2010
EVENTS:
FANTASTIC
FUNDRAISING OPPORTUNITY for
CRESCENDO ORCHESTRA
You are invited to come
make snowcones with Crescendo! A gentleman by the name
of Mike Johnson has made available a
snowcone machine to Crescendo!
During
the Tall Ship Days in Duluth later this
month, Crescendo
will be selling snowcones at the Treasure
Adventure show that is located next to
Bayfront Festival Park down at the waterfront. Crescendo will
have the ONLY snowcone booth at Treasure
Adventure (NO competition!).
At the Catfish Festival in Floodwood last
weekend, Crescendo families living in that
area did a test run with the snowcone machine.
We are pleased to report that the results
exceeded any of our expectations! Snowcone-making
is not difficult and is actually quite
fun. Our booth was very popular and the
public loved our cones (probably because
we put extra syrup on them!)
We need 64 people to man our Crescendo
booth, ages 6th grade to adult. Adults
will run the ice shaver and handle the
money, and children/adults will fill the
cones and pour on the syrup. We will have
4 two-hour shifts per day, for four days,
running from 10 AM to 6 PM.
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS to run this operation!
Please, if you are able to volunteer for
one or two shifts, that would be great!
The dates are: Thursday through Sunday,
July 29th to August 1st. (Crescendo will
perform a musical drama with 12 string
players on August 30th).
Now, here is the GREAT NEWS! When
you volunteer, you and your immediate
family can enter Treasure Adventure FREE!!! Yes,
the Treasure Adventure people will graciously
allow our volunteers to enter without cost.
This is a tremendous bargain! Please look
at the Treasure Adventure program at the
end of the e-mail, and you will be amazed
at how much fun you will have there with
your family!
I will be calling you very soon to see
if you will be able to volunteer. Please,
if possible, volunteer on Thursday or Friday,
and we will schedule families who work
Monday-Friday on the weekend. Hey! Tell
your child to bring along a friend to also
volunteer. It will be a challenge to fill
all 64 spots in our schedule, and we will
need all the help we can find!
We expect long lines at our booth, and
are excited that this will be a profitable
fundraiser for the orchestra! All proceeds
will help to fund the purchase of additional
violins; repair and maintenance on violins;
orchestra outings; and lessons and instructors.
In advance, THANK
YOU SO MUCH for volunteering
to help at the Crescendo fundraiser!

NOTE: Snowcone volunteers
will need to stay focused on their tasks,
which is why we plan to schedule parents
on different shifts. If you volunteer,
please make sure you have adequate help
with your younger children. The site is
surrounded by water; it is fenced, but
there will be many people there, so parents
will need to watch their children near
the water and in general in the crowds
(and for the safety and protection of the
treasures on display).
